Reading this today was very helpful. We are 5 weeks out from reunification, and I’m experiencing a surge of negative feelings about the deployment and military family life in general. It genuinely feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel because I simply can’t imagine how it will be when my husband is back. It’s good to know it’s normal. I don’t remember the desperation setting in at the end of the last deployment quite like it has this time – I remember feeling very wistful but not that it felt impossible to get through all the remaining obligations between now and then.

I met an E-6 through Bumble, we were talking (it’s real we had video calls and I even have his address) but suddenly he stopped communicating, the dates coincide with the mobilization in Minnesota for the operation metro surge, I don’t know if maybe it was deployed after that, he hasn’t reconnected on his social networks and his cell phone line appears as inactive, any ideas?
I understand that maybe for safety he couldn’t tell me what was going to be deployed or where, but I haven’t heard from him since then, it’s been 4 months

Our son is deployed right now and our 2 grandkids are having such a very hard time. They ate coming to visit us in Virginia Beach. I would be interested in information on the deployment blankets. Thank you!

I can’t say for sure what’s normal for his particular unit right now. I can say that it is common for deployed service members to go a month without calling their parents. Even when it might be physically possible and allowed, he may not be prioritizing it. If you need to get an emergency message to him, you can send a Red Cross message. Otherwise, continue to use whatever communication channels he has (letters, care packages, email, or text messages) to let him know you would like to hear from him soon.

I haven’t heard from my son since March 28th, this year who is on deployment to Iran. Is this normal for this time period not to hear from him. Please advice

Well if he said show as much or as little as you want, then it sounds like it’s a personal choice. If your dress is gorgeous, then enjoy it and feel beautiful!
